Instructor Has Served as Director of Sales For the Four Largest Junior Apparel Companies in the Country

Nancy Duncan is a proven fashion industry expert. Corporate sales, design, and confidential, co-active training for fashion industry executives and sales team are her primary areas of expertise.

As a fashion industry expert, Duncan has enjoyed the academic application of the industry through teaching at FIDM and the diverse community, both staff, students, and administration, that she has come to love. She has taught Apparel Manufacturing, Trend and Product Development, History of Costume, Wholesale Sales, Sourcing and Inventory Management, Future Trends, Production and Sourcing, Applied Mathematics, Public Speaking, Professional Presentation, and Professional Practices.

Duncan has served as Director of Sales for the four largest junior apparel companies in the country. She also co-founded a lingerie company with Hylton Karon of CG Intimates, creating the business plan and product line before launching the company that serviced all major department stores in the country through replenishment programs and fashion best sellers in a branded, focused, special sized niche. The company was then sold to Charles Komar and Sons, where she remained as President of the division and continued to grow the lingerie line and achieve private label programs with Target as well as licensing programs such as Hannah Montana and Hello Kitty for Walmart.

Duncan has consulted with six better contemporary companies, re-organizing design and sales teams to bring energy, growth, and new product to those companies. In addition, she has collaborated on company start-ups, creating business strategies and aligning the companies for private investment opportunities.

Her proven expertise lies in building branded product through client relationships for all major department stores, chains, and websites. She plans focused product to achieve volume and margin goals for both manufacturer and retailer over long-term partnerships and strategically achieves branded penetration in over 5,000 doors domestically. As well as the domestic success, managing successful global intensification is achieved through strategic partnerships with a variety of sales organizations and distributorships.

Nancy Duncan is an Outstanding Faculty Award Winner, an award given by the student body to outstanding faculty members.
